Spoken Word

I never thought I’d be capable of something like spoken word. But here I am, My words being spoken. Tell me this a month ago and I’d swear you were jokin’. Even up to last week, I losin’ sleep. Rehearsing in my head whole day on how to speak, Thinking up material over a bowl of semi stale cereal and practicing my delivery, Feeling the anxiety before the anxiety! Heart pounding out of my chest like I already on stage, Zoning out into a blank page as words struggle to be thought far less to be spoken. But just then, my empty focus is broken. “It’s…it’s a train of thought,” I thought! Chugging carefully along and pulling into my Empty Brain Station with a cheerful CHOO CHOO! I reach for the pen in a hurry to catch it, For when these moments arise, You simply have to snatch it. Hope I catch this train this time, I always seem to miss it right in the middle of the line.
